POLISHED RODS
DIVISION
Diacrom manufactures polished rods through a process that has been developed for over four decades, a process that has been certified under ISO 9001:2008 Tüv Rheinland and is carried out according to SPEC-API 11B specifications relative to design, dimensions and the different raw materials. Our rods are 100% interchangeable with others manufactured under API standard specifications.

Diacrom is the only company in South America which manufactures and exports the complete range of polished rods. Regardless of how defiant the ground may be, our range of products meets every possible need.

Chrome plated rods

Manufactured in SAE 4140 steel with the following diameters: 1. 1/8", 1. 1/4" and 1. 1/2", the following lengths: standard (8 to 36’) or special (depending on client requirement), with high tensile resistance and hardness, according to SPEC API 11B (for 95000/160000 psi alloy steel).

The hard chrome-plating process is carried out according to ASTM-B177 y ASTM-B650 standards, with a minimum thickness of 0.12 mm, and according to client specifications, achieving a highly corrosion-resistant micro-fissure plating which reaches a hardness of 67/70 HRc and a 0.4 a 0.8 μ Ra (roughness) surface finish.

The process is overseen during every stage according to the Inspection and Test Plan, this supervision starts at the moment we receive the raw material, branded with micro punching techniques, which assures the products’ trackability and the testing, according to ASTM-B571. This type of rods is specially designed for extraction in pumping stations, where soil corrosion and abrasion are high.

As an alternative, we offer the Duplex chrome plating (double layer) which is used for highly demanding abrasive and corrosive wells.

For any of the products in our range of polished rods the client can decide to include wrench flats at both ends to make assembling operations easier. A maximum torque of 300 to 320 lb-ft is advised.
Stainless steel polished rods

Manufactured in AISI 304 or 316 steel with the following diameters: 1. 1/8", 1. 1/4" and 1. 1/2", the following lengths: standard (8 to 36’) or special (depending on client requirement), with high tensile resistance of over 75,000 psim according to SPEC API 11B.

The use of this type of rod is highly advisable in cases when the soil is very corrosive.

Spray Metal Rods

Manufactured in AISI 304 or 316 steel with the following diameters: 1. 1/8", 1. 1/4" and 1. 1/2", the following lengths: standard (8 to 36’) or special (depending on client requirement), with high tensile resistance of 90,000 to 120,000 psi, according to SPEC API 11B.

The plating, which is done through the Spray & Fuse method, is carried out automatically, with record-keeping that assures individual quality control of each rod throughout the whole process, obtaining thickness and hardness in accordance with requirements in SPEC-API 11B.

This type of rods are specially designed for extraction in pumping stations with extreme soil corrosion and abrasion.

The production lines in Diacrom have been developed and patented using our own engineering, and with the support and equipment provided by Wall Colmonoy Corporation, as well as staff training carried out at their premises in USA.

Nomenclature
All our products are branded on the polished rod’s front in one or both ends (depending on client requirements). The branding is done in order for the product to be completely and easily trackable.

Packaging
Every rod manufactured by Diacrom is packaged individually before shipping, taking every necessary step to ensure complete protection against inclement weather and potential surface damage.
• Threads
They are protected with anti-corrosion grease (under ASTM D 1743 standard) and polythene injected plugs (thickness 1.5 to 2 mm) that vary in color according to metallic types and/or material.
• Product
Protected along its length with a 50 micron thick transparent tubular polythene film and covered with impermeable metallic cardboard 35 mm diameter, with a wooden lid at each end. For transport, they are placed in 1 inch thick boxes made of planed wood, either pine or eucalyptus. The lids are secured with 2 inch screw nails and are fastened with metal bands 20mm wide and 0.7mm thick.

Transportation
For consignments within Capital Federal and Gran Buenos Aires we use our own transport, which owing to its size allows us to assure a proper handling of the product, which is transported standing on its whole base (therefore preventing potential deformation threats) and covered in tarpaulin.
